Job Description

Veterinary Assistant | Oregon, Wisconsin You're more than a pair of hands. You're the calm voice a nervous patient needs, the extra set of eyes that catches what's easy to miss, and the reason our Hunt.Vet certified DVMs can trust that working dogs get the same steady care as every other patient. We're looking for a Veterinary Assistant who wants to grow into that role at Country View Veterinary Service, one skill at a time. About the Practice We've been part of the Oregon, Wisconsin and greater Madison community since 1999, and we've built our team the same way we build our patient care: from the ground up. Our AAHA accreditation puts us among the roughly 15% of practices nationally that meet that standard, and we work to keep earning it every year as medicine advances. As a certified Cat Friendly Practice, we use feline-specific handling and housing, so our whiskered patients (and the people who love them) leave calmer than they arrived. Every patient gets the same low-stress, Fear Free-minded approach: we read their body language and meet them where they are instead of pushing through. Two of our own DVMs are Hunt.Vet certified, going the extra mile for the working dogs in the Dane County hunting community, dogs with jobs hold a special place in our hearts. And if you're pre-vet, pre-tech, or still figuring out where you fit in this field, our six DVMs genuinely love to teach, and we'll help you get there. What You'll Help Make Possible Calm, low-stress visits for nervous patients, thanks to careful handling and clear communication Accurate records and diagnostics that help our veterinary team make fast, confident decisions Smooth appointment turnover that keeps our whole hospital's day on track Specialized, informed care for the working dogs in our local hunting community What We're Looking For Required: No prior clinical experience required, this is a structured, entry-level training-track role. You'll work through a structured skills checklist with hands-on sign-off from our Credentialed Veterinary Technicians and DVMs, no prior clinical experience required, just a willingness to learn and a commitment to high-quality patient care. Comfortable safely lifting and transporting patients (40 lbs and under unassisted, 41 lbs and over with a teammate) Basic computer and software skills Preferred: Comfort learning our IDEXX in-house diagnostic suite: SNAP 4Dx Plus, VetLab Station, SNAP Pro, Catalyst One, ProCyte Dx, SediVue Dx, InVue Dx, and the VetLab UA Analyzer Basic computer and software skills (Word, Outlook, and practice-management software; we use Avimark) Experience with animal restraint or low-stress handling techniques A calm, steady presence and strong communication skills Schedule Full-time, Day shift 10-hour shifts Rotating weekends No holiday shifts required Compensation Compensation for this role starts $15.00/hour. Final compensation based on experience and role alignment. Benefits Competitive pay, based on experience Free virtual mental health for your household (ages 13+) Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance Generous CE allowance plus paid CE time Uniform allowance Pet care discounts for your personal pets PTO, floating holidays, parental leave, and military leave A robust Employee Assistance Program (from finances to wellness and everything in between) Access to Encore Vet Group's library of training, CE, and career development resources A 401(k) with up to 5% company match If you're looking for a place that will genuinely grow you from the ground up, alongside a team that loves to teach and a hospital that backs it up with real credentials, we'd love to hear from you. Check us out: Country View Veterinary Service is proud to be partnered by Encore Vet Group – see what that means for you: Encore Vet Group is a community of veterinary hospitals that share a passion for the profession and a strong commitment to those who provide veterinary care. We are dedicated to a great culture, strong leadership, and high-quality medicine. Veterinary practice success doesn’t happen without these key ingredients. Our hospitals maintain the culture and atmosphere of a private veterinary practice while gaining access to collective resources and veterinary business management expertise to help lead their teams forward and shape their future. Whether you're a veterinarian, technician, or support staff, our focus is to support you in doing what you love — caring for animals while advancing your career. #LI-DNI #J-18808-Ljbffr
