Veterinary Assistant Position at East Hilliard Veterinary Services

Our clinic is looking to hire you for our Veterinary Assistant position, where you highly value pets and people as we do!

EHVS is a great choice as we are a seasoned, independent/family owned 3 plus doctor small animal practice in Hilliard, OH. You would be working with patient, kind mentors that include doctors, customer service representatives, licensed veterinary technicians and fellow vet assistants that are willing to help each other during the typical workday. We strive to have a strong emphasis on maintaining a positive interpersonal culture.

Our practice practices complete, thorough medical care, along with building long term client relationships. We are a hybrid practice as not only do we provide general outpatient care for dogs, cats and exotics, EHVS has within it a regional dental referral practice. Dr. Tom Klein has a special interest in dentistry and performs advanced procedures such as root canals, crown placements, periodontal treatment and oral cancer surgeries.

A number of skill sets that you would utilize when working with us are:
-Directing clients into the exam room for their appointments
-taking history from clients to relay on to the outpatient doctor
-Going over discharge instructions about their pet to owners
-Going over final invoices and directing clients to the front desk for payments.
-Low stress handling techniques of all patients for doctor exams, along with assisting the technicians for their tasks of lab sample obtaining, x-ray positioning and anesthesia induction
-Setting up medical samples in our in-house laboratory for the technicians to perform testing
-Packaging lab samples to be sent to outside labs
-Participation in computerized invoice generation and picture taking of pets for their medical record
-Assisting technicians in prescription filling as directed by prescribing doctors
-Assisting doctors and licensed vet techs during in-patient procedures such as stabilization of patients before and after procedures, walking patients outdoors and kennel cleaning/disinfecting
-Performing laundry duties from all surgical and dental procedures
-Unpacking and documenting inventory arrival

Hours for a full-time applicant range between a preferred mid 30s-to-40-hour work week with a minimum of 32 hours. This includes sharing duties with licensed vet technicians and assistants for 1 evening doctor outpatient & tech visits. These take place currently on Monday 5:15-7:45pm and in the future will include Thursdays. We would also need a commitment to work on a rotating basis of 1 to 2 Saturdays per month (7:45-noon). For part-time applicants (<32 hrs per week), we are flexible to come up with a mutual schedule. Pay is $16 to $22 per hour, commensurate on experience and expertise.

We also offer a stipend towards a pathway towards becoming a licensed RVT with attendance at Columbus State or Penn Foster's Online Program
